Access Franklin is the department's online account for residents. One account covers Medicaid, food assistance and cash assistance.

How to apply for benefits

  1. Check what you may qualify for

    Eligibility depends on household size, income and a few other factors. See who can apply.

  2. Apply online or in person

    Use Access Franklin, or visit your county social services office. You can also apply on paper.

  3. Send proof and watch your mail

    We may ask for documents. Most decisions are made within 30 days, and sooner for urgent food needs.
